Micellar Water

You’ve all heard of it and seen it on the ads but what is it really and what can you actually do with it. Micellar Water is a high performance cleanser for sensitive skin (anyone can use it really if it covers the majority of us sensitive souls). The ‘Micellar’ solution swiftly removes all traces of make-up and dirt acting like a purifying magnet on the skin’s surface to capture and draw out excess oil and impurities.

What is it?

Micellar water is made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. “The idea is that micelles are attracted to dirt and oil, so they are able to draw out impurities without drying out the skin.

How to use it?

Use in the morning, during your shower or before bed. Pop a few drops of the micellar solution on either a cotton pad or face cloth, Softly wipe across entire face being super gentle around the eye area, as your wiping you’ll see the dirt and makeup from your skin transfer on to your pad/face cloth. Easiest  1 minute Cleanser! You have to finish off your cleanse with a good face serum/moisturiser to seal the deal. Hands down L’Oreal Skin perfection creams are life, my 27 year old skin is proof of it.

What else?

Clean your makeup brushes. A quick clean for your brushes to get rid of any build up of dirt etc.  Pop brushes in a bowl and fill with Micellar water until all bristles are covered. Grab a couple tissues and with your brushes, one by one move in circular motion on tissue paper until brush is back to its normal colour or close to. Rinse in water to get rid of any excess and dry.

Use as a makeup corrector. Put Micellar water in a travel sized tube like container for an on the go eraser for lipstick smudges, mascara flaking and eyeliner smudges. Or, while applying makeup, take a thin brush, dip it in your Micellar water and “correct” any mistakes you’ve made (helpful when trying to master liquid eyeliner).

Skin cleanser. Some are replacing it with their actual, in-shower cleanser. Also a quick go to cleanser for your mornings or removing make up after a night out.

Remove fake eyelashes. Since Micellar water is technically makeup remover it’s safe enough to go around your eyes. Instead of ripping off your fake eyelashes, apply Micellar water on a wool pad and press against the false lash base for a couple seconds and gently rub. The water will loosen up the glue so you don’t have to pull too hard on your precious little lashes, potentially loosing a few.

A refreshing cleansing wipe after a workout. Pop some on your work out towel or Paper towel and gently wipe face for a quick clean.

The good stuff.

So gentle, skin is left feeling soothed and toned.
